Mechanochemical Synthesis of Oil Hydrocarbons
during Seismic Processes

Abstract—This paper focuses on the mechanochemical synthesis of oil hydrocarbons in the organomineral
layer under the influence of seismic vibrators (SV-10/100, SV-20/60, and others) operating at a force from 10
to 250 t and a frequency from 1 to 80 Hz. Some field experiments used the explosion energy of standard seismic
charges with a yield of 500 kg trinitrotoluene (TNT), and a large explosion of 2.7 kt TNT was applied over a
500-m route 90 km southeast of the town of Urgench. The released seismic energy was about 1013 J. Most of
the experiments were carried out in Gomel’ oblast, Belarus. It was shown that mechanochemical synthesis not
only generates oil hydrocarbons, primarily, methane in amounts sufficient to regulate the balance of this gas in
the troposphere, but also explains the nature of an energy carrier that has permanently been replenished during
geologic evolution.
