Abstract—
Titanium(IV) oxide nanoparticles (10–32 nm; rutile phase according to the SEM and XRD data) were used to purify sea water from phenolic compounds. Water samples were taken from the Shikh and Bul’var sites of the Caspian Sea. Quantitative GC/MS analysis of these samples revealed the presence therein of 15 polycyclic aromatic compounds and 11 phenolic compounds, the concentrations of some of which exceeded the maximum allowable values. Physicochemical characteristics of the water samples were also determined.
