Abstract—
Tetra(para-tolyl)antimony benzenesulfonate of the monoclinic modification was synthesized by the reaction between equimolar amounts of benzenesulfonic acid and antimony tolyl derivatives para-Tol4SbХ [X = Br, ONCHCH=CHPh, OС(O)CH2OС6H3Cl2-2,4] in a water-acetone solution. Carrying out these reactions in a benzene solution leads to the formation of tetra(para-tolyl)antimony benzenesulfonate of the rhombic modification. The structure of the obtained compounds, in which antimony atoms have a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination with electronegative substituents in axial positions, was established by X-ray diffraction analysis.
