Abstract—
A facile and efficient synthetic route towards picene-fused heterocycles such as quinoxaline and diazoles are reported. The key intermediate picene-13,14-dione involved in this strategy was easily approached on scale with a three-step modification from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde. The target molecules have been fully characterized, among which piceno[13,14-c][1,2,5]-thiadiazole was further confirmed by X-ray structure determination.
