Abstract—Volume variations of a medium, compression or expansion, which develop in solid and liquid elec-
trolytes depending on the dc direction, are discovered experimentally. The destruction of a solid electrolyte and
the motion of a liquid electrolyte were found to be the result of the pressure exerted by ions on the electrolyte.
