Abstract—A mathematical description was provided for cadmium electrode discharge process to estimate
anodic polarization with respect to alkaline electrolyte concentration, discharge current density, and electrode
porosity. This model accounted for oxidation of cadmium electrode by liquid– and solid–phase mechanisms
and diffusion, migration, and convective transfer of electrolyte components. The calculations by the proposed
model showed its applicability to sintered cadmium electrodes.
