AbstractEquations, allowing one to calculate the differential capacitance and interfacial tension of the mer-
cury electrode during co-adsorption of cation and anion from a binary electrolyte, are derived on the basis of
some virial isotherms combined with the GrahameParsons postulate about a superposition of electric fields
created by the electrode charge and charges of ions adsorbed specifically. The adsorption behavior of a model-
ing system suggests that, at certain potentials, the capacitance and the interfacial tension values are ambiguous,
implying that the model application is restricted.
