AbstractReactions of cobalt tetramethylphenylporphyrin (CoTMPP) and oxygen at diamond-like carbon (a-
C:H) and platinum are studied by analyzing cyclic voltammograms. The conclusion made earlier that electro-
catalytic activity of a-C:H drastically increases upon introducing platinum therein is corroborated. At the a-
C:H/Pt electrodes, redox reactions involving CoTMPP from an acetone solution and the reduction reaction of
oxygen from aqueous solutions are studied. The a-C:H/Pt electrode activity in these two reactions hardly differs
from that of platinum. The difference in electrode behavior between a-C:H/Pt and platinum is in a significantly
more negative potential required for the reduction of oxygen chemisorbed at a-C:H/Pt.
