Abstract—The paper examines the structure of landscape desertification in Astrakhan oblast. The degradation
is estimated based on aerospace information and the distribution of hotspots by classes of area. The changes in
the area of desertification hotspots are analyzed on three time samples, and a model for predicting further deser-
tification within the existing trend has been developed.
