Abstract—Comparative data are presented from a 20-year period of observations on the hibernation of bats in
caves of the Samarian Luka. The abundance of hibernating animals was shown to increase from the middle of
the 1990s in bats inhabiting large caves. Possible reasons for variation in bat number during hibernation are dis-
cussed.
