AbstractDirectional four-port networks of an untraditional structure are proposed. The networks are based
on two-wire lines whose single conductor is completely shielded from the earth by another. It is shown that, for
certain design relationships, these four-port networks are characterized by the second-type directivity in the
entire TEM wave propagation band, and, according to the set of their important features, can be referred to a
class of directional filters with one loop resonator. The adequacy of the analysis results was checked, and a para-
metric synthesis procedure of these devices for given performance data is described. A numerical example and
experimental results confirming adequacy of the analysis and synthesis algorithm for the proposed directional
filters are presented.
