Abstract—Strong concentration polarization of an ion-exchange membrane under a mode of overlimiting cur-
rent for two consecutive pulses with a fixed potential drop was theoretically investigated. Time dependences of
electrolyte concentration in the Nernst layer, current density, and mass transfer through the membrane were
analyzed to be dependent on duration of pulse and pause.
