AbstractThe electrooptical method for the study of colloids, suspensions, and molecular liquids (for exam-
ple, solutions of large molecules) sensitive only to the permanent electric dipole moment of the particles is
described. This method is based on intersecting electric fields of a special type. The theoretical basis of the
method is outlined; the experimental data are highly consistent with the estimations obtained earlier by the
method of rotating electric field.
