Abstract—Since the current theory of the strength of solids is based on the study of crack behavior, the con-
sideration of failure processes is preceded by the analysis of the surface characteristics of a crack such as dis-
joining pressure and thermodynamic surface and linear tensions. The dependence of linear tension on the cur-
vature radius of the crack frontal line is calculated as applied to different mechanisms of the crack growth using
dispersion forces as an example.
