Abstract— The theoretical analysis, integrated innovation, and practical aspects associated with the development and introduction of an ultralarge system for the dry quenching of coke by Huatai (China) are outlined in the present work, along with the results of the new system’s operation. The innovative approaches to optimizing the industrial processes are also noted; an example is the venting of exhaust gases from the coke discharge system in an annular air duct. The operational characteristics of a demonstration quenching system of productivity 250 t/h are as follows: the temperature difference T3 – T4 in the cooling zone is less than 50°C; the temperature of the coke obtained is less than 150°C; the gas consumption in coke quenching is less than 1250 m3/t; the thermal efficiency of the system is 90%; and the productivity of the aspiration system is 20% less than for the standard design.
