Abstract—Reducing the time for batch removal from the coal-charging machine increases the height of the
available furnace space and permits enlargement of the one-time charge in coke furnaces. With natural air sup-
ply to the arch region and wetting of the bunker surface with solar oil, the time for batch removal is reduced by
19 and 20.9%, respectively and the height of the available space is increased. The effect is greatest in charging
with forced air supply.
