Abstract—A phenomenological model for the generation of a dipole magnetic field in a star is proposed.
Amechanism for the creation of a circular electric current caused by the Coriolis shift of radially moving elec-
trons is considered. Such radial motion is driven by radiation pressure in the zone of total ionization. Numerical
estimates indicate that this current can generate the magnetic fields of Ap stars.
