AbstractThe visible distribution of galaxies in the sky is modeled, taking account of both their spatial clus-
tering and the effects of nonuniform light absorption in the Galaxy. The relative fluctuation of the numbers of
galaxies n and n' in area elements separated by
is defined by the expression
= (n
n')2/ (n + n' + 0.01).
Thedependence of the quantity

may be explained only as the effect of nonuniform interstellar absorption.
