Abstract—The range and rate of chromosomal aberrations and characteristics of the growth and development of the bread winter wheat plants at the first generation after the mutagenic action have been studied. The degree of mutagenic depression directly depends on the interaction between genotype and the mutagenic action. The parameters most sensitive to the changes in mutagenic exposure at the levels of cells and the overall phenotype of the organism are proposed. Previous use of a particular mutagen while breeding the initial genotype changes the degree of mutagenic depression.
