Reflection of a Sound Wave by an Array of Semi-Infinite Impedance Screens

Abstract— The problem of scattering of a plane sound wave by a diffraction grating consisting of semi-infinite thin screens located at the same distance from each other is considered. It is shown that at certain screen surface impedance values, the grating completely reflects the wave incident at any angle. The result is useful for the development of soundproof ventilated structures.
